    內容提要:

    As demands for more highly skilled workers increase on a global basis, higher education is expanding to unprecedented levels. At the same time, large proportions of university graduates find it difficult to find employment, especially in areas related to their qualifications. This paper highlights major dimensions associated with these concerns about the mismatch between skills and jobs. Beginning with an overview of major global trends, two national cases - Canada and China - are explored in order to understand the contradictory patterns and discourses revealed in the relationship between post-secondary credentials and labour markets. The paper draws attention to the need for comprehensive data as well as analytical frameworks that would make it possible to understand more clearly the changing relationships between education, work, and wider processes associated with social opportunity and inequality.

    Educational Reform and Indigenous People in Canada

    In a nation that has one of the world’s most highly educated populations, significant proportions of Indigenous people in Canada do not have educational credentials at or above high school levels. This issue has been identified by governments and other organizations across Canada as a major policy priority, especially since the release in 2015 of the report of the national Truth and Reconciliation Commission which highlighted the role of residential schools in damaging the lives and communities of many Indigenous students for over a century. These concerns have given way to a significant number of educational reforms and initiatives across the country. to address this issue has exploded as governments, educational institutions This paper examines the major trends and discourses associated with these reform initiatives, revealing that outcomes to date remain mixed. The paper emphasizes the contradictory role that education continues to play in contributing both to the advancement and the suppression of the interests of Indigenous people and communities.
